#SOPAProtest
- Last Wednesday was Stop SOPA day; The day when the internet protested the The Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and the Protect IP Act (PIPA).
- These two acts, which have been working their way through congress, would give the government the ability to shut down any website, at any time, without reason, for activity that they deem piracy.
- To protest, many of the internet’s most popular sites went “black” for the day, shutting down their sites in protest.
- So far it appears that the protest has worked. The uproar caused many in congress to oppose the bill and these versions of these bills are dead.
